outlierMoni Task Sheet

Detect large transients in the dark fringe channel with outlierMoni

Task name

outlierMoni

Purpose of the task

early detection of transients of large amplitude

Type of task

routine task that could be done every hour

Channels used

Pr_B1_ACp

Sequence of operations

check the summary web page of outlierMoni

http://wwwcascina.virgo.infn.it/MonitoringWeb/Noise/outlierMoni/

  • look in the section Last event and loudest events of last hour
  • look to Pr_B1_ACp: this is a selection of the five largest transients detected in the dark fringe in the last hour. several informations are given : SNR, occurrence GPS time and the shape of the transient in the raw data (top) and in the whitened data (bottom).

if a large transient appears during your shift (large means SNR>10), collect the informations (SNR, GPS) in a report that you will post to the logbook at the end of your shift.

you may investigate the origin of the transient with your favorite method.

Interpretation guideline

ideally, no transient should appear in the dark fringe.

Suggested logbook entry

as mentioned above, we suggest that shifters give a short report of the output of outlierMoni at the end of the shift.
