Scientist Duties on Shift

The scientist on shift has the responsibility to monitor the quality of the data and to report in the logbook about changes in the interferometer noise behaviour.

To follow the ITF behaviour, the scientist can exploit some noise monitors available on the web under the Last trend data  webpage, under the Reconstruct, Inspiral, Burst and Noise tabs.

In particular, the scientist has the duty to perform, every about 2 hours, the following data analysis tasks

  1. Assess the broad-band noise behaviour by checking the evolution of the NS-NS, BH-BH horizon (procedure available here)

  2. Monitor the rate and strength of glitches by checking the outlierMoni behaviour (procedure available here)

  3. Monitor the rate and time-frequency characteristics of burst events by checking the Q-pipeline status (procedure available here)

  4. Check the quality of data for inspiral searches, by looking at the statistics of MBTA events (procedure available here)

  5. Check the quality of data for inspiral searches, by looking at the statistics of Merlino events (procedure available here)
